Vehicle description:
The 740.889 class is a four-axle diesel locomotive with DC power transmission and is designed for track and shunting service on national and regional railways and on sidings of 1,435 mm gauge (under the Czech Railways Act No. 266/94) at speeds of up to 70 km/h in the options defined in the loading diagram. The bogie assembly, underframe, driver’s cab and engine hood are taken from the original 740 class locomotive. The instrument hood is new and longer than the original rear hood, and contains a newly installed electrodynamic brake unit. The catwalks are newly accessed from flights of steps, and spacious and safe platforms have been created on the buffer beams for service personnel.
